Notes:
  • Saturday morning, Horseshoe saw 3 does out of Receiver stand. No doe tags this year. We did the Pine Plantation first, but no luck. Receiver Drive was next and kicked a doe across the river on the very tip.  Horseshoe Drive followed and a doe actually walked into the drive from the NW.  (Sited from “God’s Stand” – “see all-know all” stand high in the tree)    Shaft Drive – one doe across Warson’s Pothole.  P- Head Drive no luck.  Waterlog Drive saw no deer.  Saturday night Big Al saw a doe.
  • Sunday sat in the morning until 9….raining.  Weren’t sure if should continue drinking beer or go get Horseshoe out of the stand.  Horseshoe Drive didn’t see any deer.  Tags Drive was next where we had 1 poster in the Tower Stand and 1 person along the river by point to cover up river and near ridge.  Moved a fawn right past tower stand. Mound Drive no luck.  Shaft Drive, nada.  P-Head Drive moved 6 deer.  All the deer were bedded down on the SW to S corner.  They kicked back on the drivers and headed up the ridge and came out by the Bucket Stand.  Big Al (Mr. Confidence) only carried 4 shells with him and missed 4 times on a nice buck.  Then, the buck ran to Giggles sitting on the ridge next to the river.  He shot 3 times and it ran back past Big Al (laughing because he was out of shells).  Subsequently, Horseshoe took 2 long distance shots at it in the tall grass on the Sack Drive from the big pine.  A spiker ran up the same way, laughed at Big Al, and ran to Giggles who shot 2 times at it.  Giggle missed and it then ran back past Big Al and then to the North, laughing all the way.  3 posters needed – Big Pine, Bucket, and next to the river on the ridge (Shotgun Ridge Stand).  Sack Drive moved 1 deer off the edge of the ridge to the East.  We need to post one person to the east on Ridge.   Water Log = No Deer.  Plantation Drive = No Deer.  Receiver Drive = No Deer – We pushed it to the North – I believe pushing to the south is better.  Did not sit (too late).
  • Monday ate breakfast at The Junction (Great way to start).  Kicked a deer up heading to the river, on the North side of trail just down into tags and on grass island in river heading across river.  Tags Drive – saw a doe and a fawn posting at the point by the river as Auto was heading to Tower Stand. No other deer.  Shaft Drive = No Deer.  P-Head moved 2 deer that headed across river to the Southeast (into Receiver Drive).  Sack Drive moved a deer to east.  (Need a guy on the Hardwood Ridge to east).  Waterlog Drive = 0 for 3.  On Horseshoe Drive, 1 deer crossed river next to the High Bank to the west.  Auto, Warson, and Baalke did Receiver Drive, moved 2 deer, and shot a spiker posting on ridge in middle.  Three hunters drove Baalke’s Lease moved 2 does on Middle Drive to the south of the pond.  Always post someone by pond on any drive besides the east drive.
